Levi's 501 (08501-0042 XXX9) <Denim Archives>

"08501-0042" is a product of Levi's in Japan which was released in 2008. The XXX9 denim is an evolution of the XXX17 denim used in "00501-01" and the XXX7 denim used in the "501-0101". The sewing is made in the Philippines. In the booklet accompanying the product, the XXX9 denim is explained as follows

XXX9 denim is a new denim that uses the company's traditions and techniques based on Cone Mills' material, and combines the "ultra-dark pure indigo" hue of 1909 with the composition "12.5 oz. unwashed and 14 oz. washed" found in the 1950s and early 1960s.
In order to express the unevenness of those days, the warp yarn is made up of a mix of four different thicknesses, and the weft yarn is made with a special ring span.
The XXX9 denim is a special denim with the original indigo color and the ability to replicate the strength and durability of a pair of jeans.

It has a flasher similar in design to the 03501 and, like the 03501, does not come with a guarantee ticket.

Straight, falling straight from the knees down. It appears to be slightly slender.

Almost the same design as the current 501 flasher. It's tailored to deep arcuate stitching.

Since this is a Japanese project, the laundry tag is written in Japanese. The country of production is the Philippines.

It has been stitched with a lock sewing machine by Orange Stitch and treated with a side split. Also, the hem is single stitched.

It's already been one-washed. It's a well-stuffed fabric, yet very supple. Also, the color is more bluish/reddish and deeper than 0351. On the other hand, the slabbiness is not very strong and there are no neps.
