"00501-01" is a product manufactured in 2003 as a Japanese project of Levi's, XX17 denim was used for the regular line aimed at a vintage-like fabric while being woven on an innovative loom. The silhouette is a classic fit that inherits the silhouette of the red ear era. The sewing is made in the Philippines. In the booklet accompanying the product, the XX17 denim is described as follows
XX17 denim is a special denim that has been discovered in the Corn Mills archives and is a faithful reproduction of the yarn making and weaving methods used in 1917 using the latest technology. (*The thing at that time was a power loom with narrow width red ears, but in XX17 denim, it corresponds with the latest innovation loom without wide ears.)
The warp yarn that makes up the XX17 denim is made from a mix of four different yarns, and the weft yarn is also made from Amsler Ring Spun, a special uneven yarn from Corn Mills.
The weight of the XX17 denim itself is also linked to Levi's history of starting with 9oz, rather than the 14oz that we have today, with a slightly lighter denim of 11.75oz at the unwashed stage and 13oz after washing. This is a special denim that is light and very easy to wear, and the history and tradition of Cone Mills and Levi's has been condensed into one.
