One of the Levi's Engineered Jeans born in 1999. It has been designed to be comfortable and easy to move around, even though it uses a three-dimensional fabric with fewer parts. It is set to be reprinted in 2019 to celebrate its 20th anniversary, and it's getting a lot of attention.
The one shown here was made in August 2001 and was left unwearable after being purchased at the time.
It is difficult to fold and lay it flat because it is a three-dimensional cut. From the knee down, they are made to twist inward from the beginning.
If the fabric is laid out from the back so that it sticks to the floor, the legs will be quite open, unlike the case from the front. Also, the outseams are twisted and come all the way to the middle at the hem.
patch
There is only one stitching on the right back of the waist where it would normally be patched. This is not a patch that has been removed, it is an original spec.
back pocket
The back pocket is only on one side of the right back. The flap is attached. There is also a red tab with a small "e".
fabric
Stretch fabric made of 98% cotton and 2% polyurethane. It has been dyed dark, almost black. I don't know if this is due to the low blend ratio or the use of polyurethane, which is resistant to degradation, but even after almost 20 years of purchase, there is no degradation due to hydrolysis. The fabric is likely to have a long vertical drop.
