At the end of the XX notation, the lot number of the zippered version of the 501 was changed from 501ZXX to 502. Just as the 503BXX, the button fly usage size, was dropped to 501, the 504ZXX was dropped to 502, the zip version was also dropped. This is the one I bought with 60% of the color remaining in the used.
It's hard to tell from the photo, but the remaining color has a strong reddish color. It's a size that would have been impossible to wear a long time ago, as it reveals the ankle.
paper patch
The stamp "502-0117" appears to be faint. The letters are large. The "01" after the part number is said to represent the type of fabric (in this case, the same Shrink-to-Fit fabric as 501) and the "17" is said to represent the color (in this case, rigid). The notation on it follows in the order of "WPL423", "Made In U.S.A.", "100% Cotton" from the left.
back pocket
Asymmetrical back pockets, like the other Big E's The arcuate stitch is deeply angled and still asymmetrical.
red tab
On the double-sided tabs, the thickness of the "V" line is different between left and right, and the uneven V-stripes are fine.
top button
Plated iron buttons. There are small patches between the letters, with a slight bulge in the middle. Parallel stitching at the waistbelt edge.
top button (back)
The engraving on the back of the button is "8". The top of the waist belt is chain stitched.
coin pocket
The fabric is used vertically. The back is stitched with chain stitch. Incidentally, the fabric on the opposite side of the coin pocket is made of vertical fabric.
outseam, selvedge
The color of lines has disappeared. The hem is undulating with a chain stitch of orange upper and yellow lower threads.
