The Levi's 501 ,this was manufactured in 1980, in the middle of the late 66 chain period. The production of denim fabrics has changed dramatically since the 66 chain production period due to the rise in the price of synthetic indigo dye caused by the oil shock and the increase in imports of cheap fabrics from Japan and other countries. The coloring is such that one can tell the difference in dyeing from the past.
